Patagonian Pygmy Owl

The Pygmy owls are relatively common in the more wild parts of Patagonia and I saw a few while I was there. They are one of the smallest species of owls. We had stopped in the shade during the midday heat to cook some lunch and after a post lunch siesta we woke up to this one in the branches above our heads.
